The Boot welcomes new executive chef Jon May

Chef Jon May, who worked at The Chef and The Farmer in Kinston, is now the executive chef at The Boot, an Italian-American restaurant with a focus less on American and more on Italian. May is using a lot of local artisan products with a more seasonal menu. Despite the changes, May said the prices will stay the same. The Boot is located at 2501 University Dr., Durham; Hours: 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday-Saturday.

The Boot, a new Italian-American restaurant has opened at 2501 University Drive in Durham. The proprietors are Andy Perno and Andy Magowan, owners of Geer Street Garden.

Andy Magowan, the owner of Geer Street Garden will open a new Italian-American restaurant called The Boot in the Rockwood Center on University Drive in late summer.
