New wine, charcuteria and cheese bar opening to open on Main Street

A new wine bar, Bar Brunello, will open in the former Bar Lusconi space at 117 E. Main St. Bar Brunello's main focus will be on wine, charcuterie and cheese and is expected to open this month, according to its social media page.

Longfellow announced plans to build two new seven story buildings in downtown Durham

Longfellow Real Estate will construct two seven-story buildings on what is now a Morris Street parking lot. The eight-story parking structure will be accessible from the south and east sides of Roney Street, and developers say that it will offer supplemental public parking for community events and for the Durham Farmers’ Market.The project is part of the 1.7 million square-foot Durham Innovation District and will bring nearly 350,000 square feet of primarily new office space downtown, along with a 1,200-vehicle parking deck.Duke Clinical Research Institute has signed a lease to occupy all of the office space in one building .The company plans to begin construction later this year, and the buildings have an anticipated completion date of spring 2018.

Littler now open

The owners of Pizzeria Toro opened their new restaurant Littler, this past weekend. Located at 110 E. Parrish St. The restaurant is an intimate space, with a dozen tables and a small bar. The menu, which ranges in price from $12-$28, includes a few permanent items, like oysters and a lamb burger, and the rest will vary and change often. Littler is open for dinner only, six nights a week (closed Tuesdays).

New condo project in downtown to be complete by September 2017

The new downtown condo project, Mangum Flats, will consist of 14 flats, three studios, and five townhouses. The expected completion date is September 2017. The project at 515 N. Mangum St. is being designed by Center Studio Architecture and real estate developer Scott Harmon.

Emergency street closure downtown, Main and Corcoran

The 100 block of W. Main St. is closed between Corcoran Street and Mangum Street as a 150-foot stretch of 8-inch sewage main that has concrete lodged in it is replaced The closure is expected to last into next week.

Everyday Magic, a new retail shop owned by Bakara Wintner has opened. Located at 125 E. Parrish St. downtown, the shop focuses on a variety of items including home goods, jewelry, clothes and body products.

Google confirms locations in the Triangle

Google has confirmed the Google Fiber team is moving into two new offices in Raleigh and Durham.The buildings are at 309 E. Chapel Hill St. in Durham and 518 N. West St. in Raleigh.

Moogefest announces lineup

Moogefest has announced the lineup for the 2016 festival. More than 100 musical acts will play the festival, which is devoted to music, art and technology, on May 19-22 at 17 walkable venues throughout the downtown Durham. Venues include intimate galleries to theatres and will include a free outdoor stage, with music, workshops and participatory, all-ages programming.

Developer buys downtown 12-acre site for $5 million

CitiSculpt, a Charlotte developer, has paid $5 million for a 12.1-acre site adjacent to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham, the site of a former car dealership, from Hendrick Automotive Group. The company plans to invest as much as $400 million in a project that would include a mix of office, retail, one or more hotels and apartments.

Durham enveils SmARTvision plan

 Durham's SmART vision plan , designed by Architect Mikyoung Kim, was revealed  at the Durham Arts Council June 30th. The plan offers design concepts to better connect physically and visually the American Tobacco area, the center of downtown, and Durham Central Park.

Nana's Owner to Open French Restaurant and Bar in Downtown Durham

Restaurateur Scott Howell, of Nana's and NanaTaco will open a french eatery and bar, Bar Virgile, in Downtown Durham at the corner of Main and Mangum Streets at the end of 2014. There will be 49 seats with a menu with upscale cocktails and French country food.
