Latino Community Credit Union Honored for Service to Underserved Populations

The Durham-based Latino Community Credit Union was honored with the Desjardin Adult Financial Education Award in recognition of service to underserved populations by the Credit Union National Association. The credit union also recieved the Credit Union Times’ Trailblazer Award for Service to the Underserved. The Latino Community Credit Union has a free financial literacy program that includes workshops on topics including saving and budgeting, building credit, buying a vehicle, and purchasing a home.

Personal finance website NerdWallet.com  has recognized two Durham credit unions for their community-focused programs, products and services: Latino Community CU, for its outreach to at-risk populations and Self-Help for its innovative "micro-branch.”
