Full Frame Announces 2014 Announces Honoree and Theme

The 2014 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Tribute will celebrate the work of award-winning filmmaker Steve James and the Thematic Program will look at the role of the subject in documentary film through a series of films curated by filmmaker Lucy Walker.

Durham's Full Frame Founder Wins Emmy

Durham's Full Frame Founder Nancy Buirski has won an Emmy in the category of "Outstanding Historical Programming,"  for her work on the documentary "The Loving Story."

Films, Filmmakers Honored with Full Frame Awards

The Full Frame Audience Award was awarded to “Trash Dance” by Andrew Garrison; an honorable mention went to the short film, “Fanuzzi’s Gold.”
The Full Frame Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights recognized “Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare,” a documentary by filmmaker Matthew Heineman.

S. Leo Chiang's “Mr. Cao Goes to Washington” won the the Full Frame Inspiration Award.

The Full Frame Jury Award for Best Short went to “The Time We Have” and “Sivan."
“Chasing Ice” won the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment’s Environmental Award.

The Full Frame President’s Award went to “Grandmothers (Abuelas)” won the Full Frame President’s Award.

“The Waiting Room” won the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award; a Special Jury Prize was also given to “The Law in These Parts."

Durham Filmmaker wins Full Frame Jury Award for Best Short Film

Durham filmmaker, Rodrigo Dorfman, took home the Jury Award for the Best Short film Sunday at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival for "One Night in Kernersville," a film chronicling the John Brown Jazz Orchestra's recording session for a CD to be released in the fall.

Full Frame Founder returns as Featured Filmmaker

Nancy Buirski founded Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in 1998 when she attended Duke University's Center for Documentary Studies. After running the festival for 10 years as executive director, she returns this year as a featured filmmaker. Buirski's documentary, "The Loving Story," centers on the case of the Loving family, the interracial couple at the center of the 1967 U.S. Supreme Court ruling - Loving vs. Virginia - that overturned anti-miscegenation laws in America.

Durham Filmmaker Rodrigo Dorfman's Short Film Premieres at Full Frame

Durham filmmaker Rodrigo Dorfman's short film, "One Night in Kernersville," premieres at the Full Frame Documentary Festival. This is Dorfman's latest story of jazz bassist John Brown, associate professor and the director of the jazz program at Duke University.
