NCCU launches IP Law Institute with funding from SAS

North Carolina Central University is launching a Intellectual Property Law Institute with the help of funding from Cary-based software giant SAS. Charles Smith, an NCCU law professor, will be the IP Institute director. He previously worked for Xerox as a patent attorney and as a counsel at Bechtel Corporation.

NCCU Names New Law School Dean

N.C. Central University has named Phyliss Craig-Taylor its new law school dean. Craig-Taylor is only the University's second female law school deal in its 75-year history. Most recently serving as associate dean for academics at Charlotte School or Law, Craig-Taylor served on N.C. Central's law faculty as a professor from 2000 to 2006.

NCCU Law Joins Association of American Law Schools

The N.C. Central University School of Law has been elected to join the Association of American Law Schools. The NCCU School of Law is only the third law school at a historically black university to join the nonprofit group that works to improve the legal profession by improving legal education.

Wendell M. Davis Named NCCU Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance

Wendell M. Davis will join N.C. Central University as vice chancellor for Administration and Finance. Davis will be stepping down as deputy Durham County manager on May 30. He has worked for Durham County since 1999.
