Duke Law building to be renovated

Summer renovations will occur in the Duke University Law School building to convert room 3000 (the Burdman Lounge) into a workshop and conference facility that will also be available for small classes and room 4000 (the Braxton Craven Room) into a mid-sized classroom. Both projects are expected to be completed by mid-August in time for the beginning of the fall semester.

Duke Law Launches Clinic

Duke University's Law School will launch an international human rights law clinic in the next academic year headed by Jayne Huckerby, a prominent human rights lawyer, advocate, and teacher, who will join the faculty July 1 as an associate clinical professor of law and director of the new clinic.

Duke Law Dean Named Influential Figure in Legal Eucation


David Levi, the dean of the Duke University School of Law, has been named to a list of the most influential figures in legal education by the National Jurist. Twenty-four educators and one legal education public policy advocate were named to its 2012 list out of 85 nominations.

Justice Stevens to Speak at 2012 Duke Law Hooding Ceremony

Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens, who served 35 years on the court before retiring in June 2010, will be the speaker at Duke Law’s annual hooding ceremony honoring the Class of 2012. The ceremony will take place at 5:15pm on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke Law School Dean Reappointed for Second Five-Year Term

Duke Law School Dean David Levi has been reappointed to serve a second five-year term as dean. Levi has served both as dean and professor of law since joining the Duke School of Law faculty in 2007.

Duke Law School’s AIDS Legal Project has been awarded a $150,000 grant from The Ford Foundation to launch a research and advocacy initiative directed at the impact of HIV and AIDS in the South.
