Durham enveils SmARTvision plan

 Durham's SmART vision plan , designed by Architect Mikyoung Kim, was revealed  at the Durham Arts Council June 30th. The plan offers design concepts to better connect physically and visually the American Tobacco area, the center of downtown, and Durham Central Park.

Durham Arts Council Names Grant Recipients, Begins Fundraising


The Durham Arts Council has created an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to help support 16 local artists have been selected to receive Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists Grants in 2013. The Arts Council’s goal is to raise $7,500 by March 21, 2013 for the Emerging Artists program.

CenterFest Returns After 2011 Hiatus

After taking a one-year hiatus, CenterFest will return to Durham on Sept. 15 and 16. The location of the event has yet to be announced.

Durham Arts Council to Honor Emerging Artist Grant Recipients

The Durham Arts Council will honor 15 local area artists selected to receive Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists Grants in 2012 at the annual Emerging Artists Awards Ceremony and reception on Feb. 23. The 2012 honorees are: Diane Daniel, literature; Notasia DeRubertis, film; Laurel Ferejohn, literature; Anne Gregory, painting; Christine Hager-Braun, craft; Hope Marasco, music; Kristin Taylor, dance; Sasha Bakaric, craft; Nuno Gomes, mixed media; Gracelee Lawrence, sculpture; Chance Murray, mixed media; Will Ridenour, music; Anita Woodley, drama; Matthew Ford, photography and Drucilla Pettibone, craft.

Clay Studio Moves

The Durham Arts Council's Clay Studio is moving to Northgate Mall and should be open by the end of 2010.
