Monsanto's Durham Office Recognized

The Durham Research Triangle Park site for the seed and agriculture products company Monsanto Co. was recognized Friday by the N.C. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division for its safety and health management program with the “Rising Star” award.

Biogen Idec, Eisai to partner in RTP

Biogen Idec will be using Research Triangle Park facilities of Eisai Inc., the U.S. pharmaceutical business of a Japanese company, to make oral, solid dose products such as tablets through a partnership announced Wednesday.

Data Center Under Construction in RTP


Texas-based Compass Datacenters has begun construction on a data center project in Research Triangle Park at 99 T.W. Alexander Drive in Durham County where Compass Datacenters is planning to eventually build three data center buildings.Completion of the first building is targeted for the second quarter.

Research Triangle Park unveiled a new plan for the park's future, calling for changes across virtually the entire 7,000 acres which supports about 40,000 employees. The plan would create a more urban feel with affordable housing, clusters of services, targeted retail and collaborative places.

RTP Foundation Names New Business Development VP

The Research Triangle Park Foundation of North Carolina has named Martin Ailstock its new vice president of business development. Ailstock will lead business development, marketing, real estate, and partnership efforts, and work on relationships with local universities. Ailstock worked in economic development at Clemson and was most recently economic development director of a Clemson University campus and technology park.

RTP Foundation Honors Emeritus Board Members

Emeritus members of the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina Board of Directors, David L. Ward, Jr. and Richard L. Daugherty, received the Archie K. Davis Award, an honor given to people who have performed “extraordinary and sustained” service for the advancement of the Research Triangle Park.  Ward served 24 years on the board and was chairman for 11 years. Daugherty, the former site general manager for IBM, served on the board for about 25 years.

BASF to Relocate German Headquarters to RTP

German chemical company, BASF, is moving the headquarters of its plant division to Research Triangle Park. The creator of genetically modified crops and will join the more than 70 agricultural technology companies based in North Carolina.
