NCCU Men's Basketball Adds Staff

North Carolina Central University head men’s basketball coach LeVelle Moton has announced that Brian Burg and Michael Cotton have been added to the program as assistant coaches, completing his coaching staff for the 2013-14 year.

Donald Thomas Joins NCCU Men's Basketball Staff

Donald Thomas has joined N.C. Central men’s basketball staff as assistant coach. Thomas earned honorable mention honors in the Mid-South Conference in his senior season at UPike and played a key role in the team's 2011 NAIA Division I National Championship win as an assistant.

Enoch, Geth Join NCCU Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

Ronnie Enoch and Ed Geth have joined the N.C. Central women's basketball coaching staff under new head coach Vanessa Taylor. Enoch previously served under Taylor as an assistant coach at Johnson C. Smith University; Geth brings eight years of Division I coaching experience, most recently at Marshall University.

Kyrie Irving Named NBA Rookie of the Year

Former Duke point guard Kyrie Irving was voted NBA Rookie of the Year earning 117 of a possible 120 first-place votes from a national NBA media panel. Irving played his first professional season with the Cleveland Cavaliers averaging 18.5 points, 5.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Rivers Named to All-ACC First Team

Duke Blue Devil guard Austin Rivers was named to the All-ACC first team as voted upon by the league's media. Rivers became just the seventh freshman in league history named to the all-conference first team. Juniors Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee also received All-ACC recognition for the first time in their careers with third team honors.

Mason Plumlee Earns All-American First Team Honors

Duke Blue Devils junior Mason Plumlee has been named a Capital One Academic All-America first team selection. The 6-10 forward from Warsaw, IN is among the top post players in the ACC while also carrying a 3.44 grade point average as a double major in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology. He is the third Duke player to earn Academic All-America first team honors and the first since Shane Battier earned that distinction in back-to-back years in 2000 and 2001. Ten total Duke players have earned Academic All-America recognition.

"Voice of Cameron Indoor Stadium" Passes Away at Age 78

Duke men's basketball public address announcer and the "Voice of Cameron Indoor Stadium" for 40 years, Art Chandler has passed away at the age of 78. Chandler announced his first gave in 1970 and retired from the position at the close of the 2009-10 season. In his four decades at the scorers table, Chandler saw four national championship teams, 12 ACC Tournament champs and a plethora of All-Americas. Arthur C. Chandler Jr., MD, was also a longtime Duke medicine faculty member.
