New startup, Dog Friendly Durham to start tours February 27

Jason Parker has created a business called Dog Friendly Durham. They organize dog friendly tours of local establishments; all while helping local shelters in the process. Participating businesses for the first tour include Bull City Burger and Brewery, Pompieri Pizza, Geer Street Garden, Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau, Ninth Street Bakery and Beer Durham, though Parker said the list has not been finalized. The first tour is set for Saturday, Feb. 27.

Cupcake Remake Set to Expand

Cupcake remake, a company that sells mason jars filled with layers of cake and icing, is set to expand through a partnership with Ninth Street Bakery, who will sell the cups.

Ari Berenbaum, a former head baker at Ninth Street Bakery who has been operating his own bakery, Berenbaum's since 2011, has acquired Ninth Street Bakery.

Durham Businesses Win 2012 Triangle Green Business Challenge


The Triangle J Council of Governments recently named award winners for the 2012 Triangle Green Business Challenge. Awards were presented to three Durham businesses; Ninth Street Bakery, Self-Help Credit Union and BioCryst Pharmaceuticals. Twenty-one companies and organizations participated in the challenge to help businesses improve the efficiency and sustainability of their day-to-day operations.

Ninth Street Bakery Launched Kombucha Enterprise "Bull City Booch"

Ninth Street Bakery has launched a beverage enterprise, Bull City Booch which a popular type of fermented tea, kombucha. Bull City Booch is produced in-house and is available on tap in the bakery's cafe at 136 East Chapel Hill Street.

Ninth Street Bakery Opens Friday Produce Stand

The Ninth Street Bakery stand, open from 11:30am to 2:30pm on Fridays, will sell produce from four different farms, including items from the garden that's used to produce vegetables and other items for the bakery's salads and sandwiches.
