Preservation Durham Names New Executive Director

Preservation Durham named Wendy Hillis as its new executive director. Hillis was previously the campus historic preservation architect at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Preservation Durham Recognizes Leaders in Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Conservation

Preservation Durham bestowed awards to community members who have shown "outstanding leadership and sustained involvement in historic preservation in Durham County." Benjamin Speller, former Preservation Durham and retired dean of NCCU's School of Library and Information Sciences, received the premier Bartlett Durham Award. Preservation Durham names Bob Ashley Executive Director

Bob Ashley has joined Preservation Durham as its executive director.  Ashley, retired in January after six years as editor of The Herald-Sun. Prior to joining The Herald-Sun, he edited newspapers in Owensboro, Ky., and in State College, Pa. He previously held management positions at The Charlotte Observer and at The Raleigh Times.
