Duke Chapel to Close for Renovation in 2015
The Duke University Chapel will close in 2015 for renovations to the chapel's original copper roof, restoration of stained glass windows, and restoration of the wooden pews.

Duke Divinity School and Duke Chapel announced that Kit Jacobson has been named the new organist for the Divinity School and Duke Chapel. The appointment will begin on July 1.

Luke Powery Named New Duke Chapel Dean
The Reverend Dr. Luke A. Powery of Princeton Theological Seminary will become the new dean of Duke Chapel effective Sept. 1. The first black dean of Duke Chapel, Powery has taught at Princeton Theological Seminary since 2006, where he is the Perry and Georgia Engle assistant professor of homiletics.

Duke University Welcomes First Hindu Chaplain
Duke University has named Usha Rajagopalan its first Hindu Chaplain. Fluent in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, Rajagopalan graduated from Annamalai University in India and the University of Maryland. In her new role, Rajagopalan is charged with counseling Hindu students and representing the Hindu Students Association in university programs.

Duke Employee Commits to Commute By Bike
Steve Hinkle, a chaplain with Duke Chapel's InterVarsity graduate and faculty ministries, was named New Belgium Brewing Company's Tour de Fat car-bike swap winner. Hinkle made a "gentleman's agreement" to switch to all-bike commuting and otherwise not drive until July 2012.
