Dillard’s Bar-B-Que property sold to M.M. Fowler

The property that housed Dillard’s Bar-B-Que, the long-time barbecue restaurant on Fayetteville Street that closed last year, has been sold to M.M. Fowler, a Durham-based company that owns a chain of convenience stores and fuel stations. A plan has been filed with Durham City-County Planning to redevelop the site into a convenience store with fuel sales.

Co-Founder of Durham's Iconic Dillard's Bar-B-Q Passes

Geneva Dillard, who co-owned Durham's iconic Dillard's Bar-B-Q with her husband, Sam Dillard, passed away on Sept. 17 at the age of 89. Geneva Dillard received the Spirit of Hayti Heritage Legacy Award for Dillard's Bar-B-Q in 2011. In 2008, she was honored with the Mahogany Dime Award for Excellence in business and entrepreneurship.
