DCVB's Visitor Services & Special Projects Coordinator recognized by DMAI as a 30 under 30 nominee

Durham Convention & Visitor Bureau’s Visitor Services & Special Projects Coordinator, Evan Foote-Hudson, was recognized as one of Destination Marketing Association International's 30 under 30 honorees . Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) is the world’s largest and most reliable resource for official Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), also called convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) or tourism boards.The 30 individuals, 30 years of age and under, chosen from 95 applicants, will engage in professional development, volunteer and networking opportunities throughout 2016. Honorees originate from a variety of destinations and backgrounds.

Durham had record tourism and visitor spending numbers for 2014

The city of Durham has reported record tourism and visitor spending numbers for 2014. In 2014, Durham hosted 9.31 million visitors who spent a total of $830.8 million – an average of about $2.3 million per day. The bulk of the visitors, 92 percent, were domestic. The total spending represents an 8.5 percent increase over 2012’s total. The Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau released the figures. The report tracks data every two years.

Durham shows increase in tourist spending

According to a new study commissioned by Visit North Carolina and conducted by the U.S. Travel Association, Durham saw visitor spending increase to $700 million in 2014 from $657.17 million in 2013.
