Swansey Becomes Youngest Ever Champion of Duke Spelling Bee

Duke Regional Spelling Bee champion 10-year-old Ned Swansey of E.K. Powe Elementary School became the competition's youngest-ever winner, securing a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee by correctly spelling “moorage.” The bee went for 33 rounds - the longest stretch in the competition's history.
