Retiring Sheriff Honored With State's Highest Civilian Honor

Retiring Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill was awarded the state's highest civilian honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, by Gov. Beverly Perdue. Hill's retirement will be effective January 1, 2012; his service to Durham county was just three years short of five terms.
