NCCU To Offer First Doctoral Degree in 50 Years

Starting in Fall of 2012, North Carolina Central University will offer a Ph.D. in integrated biosciences. This marks the first doctoral program offered by NCCU since five candidates earned Ph.D.'s in education from 1955 to 1964 - one of whom, Walter M. Brown, future dean of the NCCU School of Education, was the first to be awarded a Ph.D. by a historically black college or university in the United States.
