GlaxoSmithKline awarded $40,000 each to four Durham nonprofit organizations Wednesday for their work toward improving public health. The Association for the Preservation of the Eno River Valley Inc., receoved funding for protecting the river basin’s nature, culture and history; Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, was awarded for combating hunger; Kidznotes, Inc. was awarded, for providing classical music training for underprivileged children; and Student U was given a grant for promoting healthy lifestyles through education-based programs.
