Durham charter school, Global Scholars Academy, received a $200,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to help bridge the gap between students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and middle class kids by extending the school day to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The grant to extend hours will allow the school to provide after school programming - activities, snacks and mentoring opportunities.
