Eastern Carolina Organics, Pittsboro-based organic produce distribution company, plans to move its distribution center to a warehouse located at 2210 East Pettigrew St. in Durham. The move is slated for January 1st.

Global Scholars Academy Receives $200K Grant to Extend School Hours
Durham charter school, Global Scholars Academy, received a $200,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to help bridge the gap between students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and middle class kids by extending the school day to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The grant to extend hours will allow the school to provide after school programming - activities, snacks and mentoring opportunities.

A small seafood restaurant called Saltbox will open in a 250-square-foot space at 608 N. Mangum St. in Durham by Former Iron Chef America contestant and Triangle chef Ricky Moore.

Preservation Durham named Wendy Hillis as its new executive director. Hillis was previously the campus historic preservation architect at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
