New store openings and expansions at Northgate Mall

Icon for Men, a men's wear store with shoes, belts and formal wear rentals and sales, will open Feb. 1 next to Lane Bryant.

Gen 19, a men and women's casual apparel and accessories store, will open Feb. 1 next to Silvina.

KISS will offer branded junior women's apparel and accessories and will open on Feb. 15 near the carousel.

Sea of Learning is expanding its space by 867 additional square feet by moving to a new space next to the Customer Service Center.

Durham Police Promotions

Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez announced the promotion of six officers:

Assistant Chief Loretta Clyburn was promoted to deputy chief; Capt. Larry Smith was promoted to assistant chief; Lt. Mark Sykes was promoted to captain; Sgt. David Addison was promoted to lieutenant; Cpl. Demetrius Mock was promoted to sergeant; Master Officer Andrew W. Lawson III was promoted to corporal.

New Theater Under Construction at The Streets at Southpoint

A new movie theater by Southpoint Cinemas will be completed by May at The Streets at Southpoint and will be called PDX for Premium Digital Experience. The new theater will have two digital projectors that will deliver digital 2D and 3D films on a wall-to-wall screen, complete with a 7.1 surround sound system and high back rocker seating.
