Downtown water main construction aims for completion by June 2016

The city is  replacing  more than 12,000 feet of water mains throughout the downtown loop, which it expects to complete in June 2016. The project will replace nearly 2.3 miles of waterlines and cost between $6 million and $8 million.

Sky Zone hosts donation drives

Sky Zone Trampoline Park is hosting donation drives to benefit the Durham Literacy Center and the Durham Genesis home, a nonprofit organization which provides housing and support services to the local homeless.

Harris Beverage to build new headquarters in East Durham

Durham County Commissioners approved a public-private partnership agreement that will give Harris Beverage $2.65 million to help develop a new headquarters in East Durham. The agreement provides $1.3 million in county money for infrastructure costs, and a $1.35 million loan for other development costs to be paid over six years.

Two added to American Dance Festival's board of directors

The American Dance Festival (ADF) announced that Jenny Blackwelder Grant and Dave Hurlbert have joined the ADF Board of Directors.

Renovation and rebranding in the future for the Brookwood Inn Hotel

The independent-owned Brookwood Inn hotel near the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham has been bought by a hotel development firm, Concord Hospitality Enterprises. The group paid $10.2 million for the 148-room hotel property and are planning a $6 million renovation and rebranding of the property in 2016.

American Airlines offers new seasonal flights to Cancun from RDU

American Airlines has confirmed it is preparing to begin weekly service between RDU and Cancun, starting March 5. Flights will leave RDU each Saturday at 7:05 a.m. Return flights will also be on Saturdays and will leave Cancun International Airport at 10:25 a.m.
